Terry Anderson. Ph.D. Terry Anderson is a professor and Canada Research Chair in Distance Education at Athabasca University . Canada.s Open University. He has published widely in the area of distance education and educational technology and has recently co-authored two new books: Anderson and Kanuka.(2002) eResearch: Methods, Issues and Strategies: Allyn Bacon and Garrison, D & Anderson, T. 2002. E-Learning in the 21st Century: A framework for research and practice. Routledge. Terry graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of Calgary in Educational Psychology, has an MSC. from the University of Oregon in Computer Education and BA and BEd. from the University of Alberta. Terry.s is the co-author of the 1998 book, Networked Learning: Pedagogy of the Internet published by Cheneliere/McGraw Hill. Terry is active in provincial national, and international distance education associations. He teaches educational technology courses in the Masters of Distance Education Program. Terry is also co-founded the Campus Alberta Repository of Educational Objects (www.careo.org) and currently acts as its director. He has been instrumental in the development of the CANCOR metadata standards for identifying and retrieving educational objects and the MERLOT (www.merlot.org) repository that adds peer reviews and teacher applications to Learning Objects. Dr. Heather Kanuka is the Associate Director of the Learning Commons at the University of Calgary and also holds an assistant professorship in the Faculty of Education at the University of Calgary.Her research interests include online and distance learning within higher education settings. She has been the recipient of both doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and also received the Izaak Killam Memorial Scholarship and the Andrew Stewart Graduate Student Prize awarded in recognition of excellence in research and potential in pursuit of new knowledge for work in these areas. Her publications in the areas of online and distance learning, higher education and teaching-learning have appeared in The American Journal of Distance Education, Journal of Distance Education, Distance Education, Journal of Computer Mediated Conferencing and Canadian Journal of Higher Education. |
